Challenge: Domain Change Without Impact on SharePoint
Recovera planned a technical domain change and needed to ensure that its internal SharePoint environment remained fully functional throughout the transition. The main risks included the potential loss of user access, permission issues, and malfunctioning custom applications connected to the database. The goal was to complete the migration without downtime and without requiring user intervention.
Solution: Two-Phase Migration of SharePoint 2016
1. Test Environment
- Installation of SharePoint 2016 on a new server
- Fine-tuning and testing of more complex workflows
- Migration of users and deployment of custom applications
- Creating a database copy and connecting it to SharePoint
The testing phase made it possible to verify functionality and resolve issues early, with no impact on production.
2. Production Environment
- SharePoint 2016 installation on a production server in the new domain
- Backup and detaching of the database from the old environment
- Connecting the database to the new server
- Migration of user accounts and verification of permissions
- Post-deployment support and system monitoring
Roles of the technician and the project manager were clearly defined from the start. Documentation was created for every step (procedures, acceptance protocols), ensuring full traceability. Communication was continuous and proactive, without the need for client escalation.
“During our cooperation with IXTENT, I appreciated the fast and factual communication the most. Whenever we were unsure about the next step, we received a prompt response and a concrete proposal. I never had to push things forward — they simply moved. There was a genuine willingness to find solutions rather than say ‘it can’t be done’. This made the project predictable and free of unnecessary stress.”
Magdaléna Topičová, Project Lead (Customer Side)
“IXTENT has been our long-term partner because they bring both experience and expertise. They never assign only a technician — each project also includes a dedicated project manager who maintains the plan, process, and coordination. Everything follows a clear structure, from acceptance protocols to documentation that we can always return to. This gives us confidence that the project will be managed properly, transparently, and completed successfully.”

The testing phase verified system functionality and helped fine-tune even the more complex components, such as workflows. Thanks to clear project governance and continuous communication, the production migration was completed without any impact on users. The result is a fully functional SharePoint environment in the new domain, with all data, applications, and permissions preserved.
“Throughout the project, we valued IXTENT’s professionalism the most. Responsibilities, steps, and deliverables were clearly defined from the beginning. The documentation was detailed enough so that we could return to it at any time — nothing remained only in someone’s head. This gave us confidence that the system was deployed correctly and is sustainable long-term. Even when certain parts — such as workflows — required more attention, we always found a solution together and completed the project successfully.”
