The IXTENT company, the leading provider of IT solutions for document management, content management and archiving, has announced that the solutions it offers from OpenText Corporation for records management has earned the highest possible evaluation – Strong Positive – in a survey of the records management market segment (and records services respectively) by the company Gartner Inc. for the year 2005. The study, revealed in December, included solutions from 14 companies and the OpenText Corporation was one of four which received the highest possible evaluation.
The study provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the records management market and shows that by 2008 60% of all Global 2000 companies (Forbes) will implement company records management solutions, whereas in 2004 it was only 20%. The primary reason for this will be due to the legislative requirements for document handling.
“We regard the analysis of the records management market carried out by Gartner Inc. as absolutely accurate – the regulatory and legislative requirements are the motivating force for implementing records management for our customers,” says Mark Portu, the vice president of Compliance Solutions at OpenText, adding, ”Obviously we are proud of our high evaluation in this study.”
Livelink ECM Records Management from OpenText offers the principal functions for fulfilling regulations in global organizations. The solutions can be integrated into the archiving of content and OpenText search functions for providing individual rules according to legislature for content storage and handling within the organization and for support of legal analysis. The OpenText solution, from the Czech company IXTENT in the Czech Republic, can expand records management (and records services) to content in the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003, email systems, such as Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino and other applications. Customers can use solutions for records management OpenText (respectively from IXTENT) on may platforms for data storage from EMC, Hitachi Data Systems, StorageTek, Network Appliance, HP, Sun Microsystems and IBM.
