Report from SAP NOW

On 29 May, Prague Cubex was dominated by the event of the year in the field of digital transformation, the SAP NOW conference.

The conference was moderated by the experienced and popular moderator Libor Bouček.
This year’s event was conceived as a one-day event. The main section took place in the morning, with Hana Součková, CEO of SAP for the Czech Republic, welcoming the guests. This was followed by the main lectures; an interesting combination of modern information technologies and entrepreneurship was presented by the General Director of Linet, a member of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport and the Human Resources Director of Karlovarské minerální vody. The last lecture in the first block was given by the winners of the InnovMatch competition, representatives of the company Apollogic. Their project allows surgeons to view medical images from CT and MR as 3D holograms including all important information about the patient. The technical solution is to combine mixed reality with the SAP Cloud Platform and the SAP HANA database.

Another part of the program was a combination of business and social responsibility, and projects were presented by Czechitas and Autism at Work, a non-profit organization. The SAP awards ceremony completed the morning block of the program.

In the afternoon, visitors to the conference were divided according to their interests into thematic lectures, which were interlaced by visits to the stands of the exhibitors, who offered their services related to SAP products as conference partners. One of the conference’s traditional partners was IXTENT, which presented at their stand tools for managing unstructured content (OpenText document administration) - an area where SAP loses strength and needs to be complemented accordingly.

Throughout the day, visitors to the IT conference were able to get acquainted with various illustrative examples of the use of SAP technologies - such as an automated warehouse management system, an enterprise management portal, and digitization of analogue devices.
The evening continued with networking, an extensive banquet, and the awarding of prizes for the competition for participants at the stands. The successful event came to an informal end with a concert by the popular group Queenie.

See you at the next SAP NOW 2020!
