Could you please briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I graduated in life sciences in the late 1980s. I later worked in genetic engineering and plant breeding and it was then that I realized the power of computers while processing the data of biological experiments.
Early 1990s – when the Communist Block fell – I was already working in the computer industry.
Have you worked in the field of EIM for long? What is your previous work experience?
I started with data analysis in the energy sector, then I worked in the area of spatial and imaging software development. I worked for several global and regional software and service companies. I also worked as an independent analyst as well as a specialist in CRM systems.By 2000, I had 8 years of experience in consulting and marketing automation, now I am back in the software industry in OpenText, strengthening their presence in CEE. I specialize in the fields of ECM, Microsoft, IBM file net, and cloud operations.
How long have you been working at OpenText? In what position?
I started at OpenText in July 2018, I work as a territory account executive for expanding markets. My region is the Czech Republic and Romania.
What does your job entail?
I sell all OpenText products, but I mainly focus on the ECM part. I prepare OpenText offers, and cooperate with OpenText resellers.
What is your favorite part of your job?
It is mainly OpenText Exstream, ECM, BPM platform and all of the OpenText generic tools.
What will the cooperation between you (as a representative of OpenTexT) and my colleagues from IXTENT be like?
As smooth as possible. I will help with the support of all OpenText products, a major change will be that I am the dedicated person for the Czech Republic (my predecessor only had the region). I would like to bring experience from other vendors/competitors, contacts, relations, know-how, and grow OpenText’s business in the Czech Republic.
What are you looking forward to within the scope of your work? Do you have any career goals?
My goal is to bring the largest accounts in each country, as well as new resellers/partners to OpenText.
I would like to organize augmented teams – which is also my private challenge – to provide professional services from OpenText. With IXTENT, we could cooperate in mixed teams, something like project delivery teams to bring excellent services to our clients.
What is the biggest challenge for you in your new position?
I manage two totally different countries, the Czech Republic is the most demanding country (with partners), well-established with a growing market. In Romania it is different. Romania is the opposite, I have to find a way to achieve a growing market. I have to find two different but functional attitudes.
Do you have any professional dreams?
I dream of retirement. No, I have several professional dreams, but I’ll keep them to myself for now.
In your opinion, what is the most exciting OpenText product?
Definitely Magellan, an analytical tool based on artificial intelligence with a high potential, its only competition is IBM Watson, Mr. Watson established IBM too. But Magellan is better of course.
How would you describe OpenText’s vision?
Reasonable and steady growth for acquisitions.
How do you dissociate yourself from work?
I love sci-fi films like Star Trek, some old films too, or the film called Fly me to the moon.
What about Aladdin’s lamp, if you could wish for something, whatever, what would it be?
I would like to have a time machine, I would travel back to my youth and maybe start my professional career again.
Thank you for the interview and good luck in your professional challenges in OpenText.
